Ioanna Petsiou is an investigative data journalist working across data analysis, satellite imagery, and mapping to uncover and explain complex stories. She is particularly drawn to environmental reporting and to building clear, reproducible ways of working with data that others can follow and build on.
In 2024, she graduated from Columbia University’s Lede Program in computational journalism and data analysis, supported by a Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) fellowship. Later that year, she received a second SNF fellowship to attend the CSIS Journalism Bootcamp in Washington, where she worked on migration reporting as part of the data team.
She has collaborated with Reporters United on a cross-border environmental investigation in partnership with Arena for Journalism in Europe.
She shares her work, methods and documentation on her personal website.
